statement

I work primarily in oil paint on wood panels or canvas. Drawing, composition and quality craft are the underpinnings of my work. I strive to represent the world by making the drawing in my paintings truthful and the compositions balanced. Using quality materials and traditional methods gives me great satisfaction because I know that the work is well made.

Yellow Haus

23" x 28"

My work focuses on ideas about desire, duty and the land. The content is expressed through metaphor using motifs that have meaning. The meanings originate from my experiences and from the cultures and histories of the places I have lived. Recurring motifs include figures, water, weather and Great Plains topography.
